Move over Ikat!

I’ve been waiting for the refresh button to be hit on patterns this summer. For awhile, the design and fashion worlds couldn’t divorce themselves from the Ikat print. And while gorgeous, some new prints have been catching my eye these days, including Aztec prints.

I let out an audible gasp when I saw the sweater on the left. I have an affinity for (read: problem with) over-sized, chunky knit sweaters. I cover up out of insecurity instead of wearing more form-fitting pieces that flatter my shape. Insecurities aside, it’s a simple fact that every girl needs a chunky sweater collection along with a stack of books and a hot beverage of choice for the impending fall season. Here are some of my other favorite iterations of Aztec print (the sweater above is hopefully coming back from market with shopredclover.com so watch their website).

Anima Mundi

One of the reasons I love having the Marc by Marc Jacobs store in downtown Savannah is there amazing curation of art and design books. The other week I happened upon American artist, Philip Taaffe’s Anima Mundi and it is now on my list of to-buy’s. Taaffe combines geometry, color, and nature to create new landscapes that keep me mesmerized forever. Read about the original exhibition of this body of work here. And buy the book here.
