Impulse Purchase #1: A Juicer

So this isn’t the first impulse purchase I’ve ever made, but it will be the first one I share with you on the blog. Does anybody out there juice? I watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead the other week on Hulu and almost went vegan, but then didn’t because there were Oreos. Except, Oreos are vegan. Below is my very mechanically correct drawing of my juicer, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor. *insert evil laugh of impending healthiness*

    1. I wan’t to find a good balance between green and swallowable. When I tried juice last time (from an organic grocery store) I could barely finish it. I’ve heard you can use oranges and apples to offset it. You don’t have to go all out kale to get something out of it. What’s your experience? Did you make any that were tastier than others?

      1. Beets were actually pretty good with apples but I turned out to be highly intolerant of them, ha. Green apples, and yes, some acidic fruit like an orange is a good addition. Celery was horrible. Check out Williams Sonoma, they had a huge list that we drew from. Sorry I don’t have the link handy as I’m on my phone but if you can’t find it, I will look it up. It’s accessible from their juicing page.

  1. Juicer, blender and raw vegan here 🙂 You chose wisely… Now let the health begin. The only issues with juicing is that it takes time and a lot of cleanup. Just be warned… Juice is best right after juicing not stored for days… You might want to get a Vitamix too down the road because blending is quicker and serves a similar purpose, get nutrients into your body…
