What’s In My Bookmark Bar? Part I

I have wanted to write this post for a long time now. Some of my best finds have come from other bloggers posting their favorite blogs so I thought I’d do the same. I’ll split it into two though so you can have time to explore each link.

First, we have Rebelleon, a darling lifestyle blog written by my cousin, Catherine. This belle posts about beauty, DIY projects and other “blog-worthy finds” as she says. My favorite posts from her lately have been the DIY’s. Back in December I followed her post to make my own magazine Christmas tree, perfect for 20-somethings and college students. She also gave my grandmother’s wallet a new look with a little glue and a gorgeous stone.

I met Kelsey Cronkhite when I moved to Savannah to study graphic design. She is definitely one of my blog role models. Her blog Pinegate Road features regular columns like “From the Desk”, where she “visits” with other designers and creatives to interview them about their process. I also enjoy “Outfittings” where she curates clothes pairings for every occasion.

Last, but certainly not least, we have All the Mountains, an Australian blog I found through some random clicking one Friday night. Sadly, All the Mountains has closed its doors but you can still spend hours scrolling through their posts to get inspiration and witness unique products. I’ve definitely pinned plenty of their choices.

Look out for part II of “What’s In My Bookmark Bar?” coming soon!

Deborah Lippman and Girls

Who doesn’t love a good Deborah Lippmann polish? I know Rebellon feels me on this one. HBO has released images of the new nail collection by the famed nail polish creator to be named after each of the quirky main characters of Girls on HBO. The colors are available beginning January 2013. Preorder through HBO’s store, here.

Holiday Look: The Chic Lumberjack

When you are headed out for many a holiday open house or party, it’s fun to get dressed for the season. This look channels rough and edgy with it’s menswear inspiration, but still comes across as feminine. Your hostess will love the Archipelago Joy of the Season Candle and your friends will want to know what lacquer covers your nails. Neutrogena’s daily moisturizer is a great beauty tool this winter when you want to keep glowing. Even on days without makeup it keeps your face hydrated and luminous and has a great smell to boot. Don’t forget your classic leather tote to throw all of your goodies in!

Authors That Inspire: Rosie Molinary

Rosie-Skirt-BW

I met Rosie Molinary when I registered to take her workshop on memoir at my alma mater, Davidson College. Her author journey began from her own experience dealing with body image and self-confidence. Now, with two books under her belt, Molinary hosts workshops to empower other women to follow their own paths and dreams. If you live in the Charlotte, NC area, check out Molinary’s visionSPARK workshop to be held on January 5th at a local farm. You will leave the workshop with an inspiration board and a new mantra to build your new year upon.

I got this idea from The Beauty Department for Robin’s Egg Nails, a blue base with a glitter topcoat. I created my look with Essie’s Lapis of Luxury and Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails Strobe Light.

Nail Polish of the Moment

Who says spring has to be limited to girlie pastels and pinks? When I think of spring I also think of what’s coming next in summer berries. This raspberry tone by OPI called Manicurist of Seville is my perfect raspberry tone for that transition.

The Best Kind of Delivery

When I first heard of Glossybox, a monthly beauty club that delivers samples to your door, I ran looking for my credit card only to find out that it is only available in the U.K. A quick google remedied the situation as I came across Birchbox. Pay just ten dollars a month and Birchbox will send you four to five luxe beauty samples curated by their meticulous staff. Brands range from Moroccan Oil to Bobbi Brown to Deborah Lippman. This is a great way to try the best products without committing to a huge bottle first. If you love something, Birchbox’s site has an online shop where you can buy the full size of all of their samples. I haven’t tried it yet but I am anxious to get my first box in the mail!

Tallulah!

I am loving my new mineral lip gloss from Tallulah in Socialite. It gives just enough sheen for the average day but can also be glamourous for nighttime. Don’t be afraid to try their brighter shades like my other favortie Mouth of the South. The bright tints might look scary but they are really a great alternative to a punchy lipstick, if you have trouble taking the plunge to Betty Draper’s red like I do. Tallulah can be purchased in Savannah at One Fish Two Fish and See Jane.

Aruba, Jamaica….

Maybe there is a theme here. I am digging an array of monochromatic blues for summer and that’s why I’m loving Essie’s new collection of blues. With names like “Turquoise and Caicos” and “Aruba Blue” these are definitely colors I want to see on my toes, ideally with waves crashing over them. Find them here at Ricky’s NYC.

My absolute favorite “Turquoise and Caicos”.
